Commercial Court On Plans to Revamp Mediation Registry
Commercial Court Judicial Officers at the meeting
On Thursday November 9, 2023, the Head of the Commercial Court Hon. Justice Stephen Mubiru, chaired a meeting with Judicial officers to brainstorm on how to enhance the Mediation Registry.
Hon. Justice Mubiru appreciated the commitment of the Officers to this significant initiative. He urged Judicial Officers serving under the Mediation Registry to prioritize the Division's work, emphasizing that successful practices within the Division could serve as a model for others to emulate.
Hon. Justice Mubiru advocated for prioritizing Alternative Dispute Resolution in the resolution of disputes at the Division.
The meeting agreed to clustering of files suitable for Mediation and implementing a monitoring system for files under Mediation.
It was also agreed to hold a Mediation Week to engage stakeholders and promote awareness of ADR as a swift case resolution mechanism.
The meeting was attended by Lady Justices; Hon. Lady Justice Anna Mugenyi, Hon. Lady Justice Cornelia Sabiiti, Hon.Lady Justice Susan Abinyo, Hon. Lady Justice Harriet Magala, Hon. Lady Justice Patience Rubagumya and Hon. Justice Thomas Ocaya.
In attendance were; HW Elias Kisawuzi (Registrar Mediation), Deputy Registrars in the Mediation Registry; HW Agnes Nkonge, HW Eleanor Khainza and HW Godfrey Kaweesa.
HW Catherine Agwero, HW John Paul Edoku (Deputy Registrars Commercial Court) and Assistant Registrars; HW Mastula Mulondo (Small Claims Procedure) and HW Kyampaire Dorothy (Commercial Court)were present.
